MORIGAON, Nov 25 � Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma today announced that a helipad would be constructed near Pobitora wildlife sanctuary to give tourism a boost.
Brahma, who was addressing a function on the inaugural day of the Mayong-Pobitora festival at Pobitora wildlife sanctuary, said that the State Government would ensure better infrastructure and amenities at Pobitora.
The three-day festival that centres around Pobitora wildlife sanctuary and Mayong � the famed ancient seat of magic � got off to a colourful start this morning with wide participation of the local populace and tourists.
The event, organised by the Morigaon district administration in association with Assam Tourism Development Corporation is expected to give rural and wildlife tourism in the area a big boost.
The day�s programmed began with flag-hoisting by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dr Nazrul Islam. It was followed by a cultural procession inaugurated by Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain. Next, the ethnic food exhibition was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma.
Brahma, in his speech, assured the local people of boosting rural tourism centering around Mayong and Pobitora.
