DOOMDOOMA, May 9 � It has been raining cats and dogs since the last 48 hours in Tinsukia district.
Though the downpour has forced a section of people to remain indoors, on the other hand it is also bringing smiles on the faces of the tea growers, manufacturers and tea labourers of the district, specially of Tea City Doomdooma.
Due to the prolonged drought-like situation in the district, along with other parts of the State, the entire tea industry had been suffering with poor cropping. The small tea growers were the worst sufferers of this dry spell.
Along with the tea growers and manufacturers, the tea labourers were also affected by the situation. As the tea gardens have not been engaging their temporary labourers due to poor cropping, they are almost jobless, to say the least. The situation had also affected the business of Doomdooma and its surrounding areas.
With the advent rain, the people have therefore heaved a sigh of relief.
