Heavy rains lash Mizoram

AIZAWL, May 25 � Vast parts of Mizoram remained in the dark for the past three days as the 132 KV power transmission line got snapped due to heavy rains triggered by strong winds.

The torrential rains, which continued for last four days, triggered landslide in Armed Veng South locality of Aizawl as three cars, six two-wheelers were completely damaged with boulders tumbling over a garage last night, Police said.

State Power and Electricity department officials said that the transmission line got snapped near Mualmam, about 45 km from here, affecting the southern parts and it was not yet known when the lines could be restored.

Police said that no one was killed or injured in the incident. The line fed power to the area from Zuangtui near Aizawl. � PTI
