Heavy rains cause floods in State

GUWAHATI, June 8 � Incessant rainfall in catchment areas during the last week have led to a rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries, inundating vast tracts of farmlands and villages in several districts of both Upper and Lower Assam, reports PTI.

The water-level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries was maintaining a steady rise and the affected districts include Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Kamrup (Rural), Udalguri, Dhemaji and Dhubri, official sources said here today.

The water level of the Brahmaputra was maintaining a rising trend following heavy rainfall in the Upper Assam districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and Dhemaji with several villages.
