Health camp organised for Dibrugarh jail inmates

DIBRUGARH, Aug 19 - A mega health camp was organised recently for the prisoners of Dibrugarh Central Jail by the Rotary Club here in association with Assam Medical College Dibrugarh and 9 Rajputana Rifles division of the Indian Army.

Around 13 doctors from Assam Medical College and the Army performed medical check-up on around 300 women and men inmates. They were later given free medicines after their preliminary check-up. A total number of 20 members from Rotary Club of Dibrugarh were also present during the event to assist the doctors with their activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Momi Neog, president of the Club said that driven by the motto �Service Above Self,� the health camp was the first in a series of activities. Rotary Club of Dibrugarh is one of the oldest and premier clubs of Rotary International Dist 3240. Formed in 1965, Rotary Club of Dibrugarh has been serving the society since its inception.

Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Urban Development Pijush Hazarika inaugurated the event. MLA of Lahoal, Rituparna Baruah, Commissioner of Health Anurag Goel and Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri were also present during the event.

The proceedings were held under the supervision of Jail Superintendent Brojen Das, a release stated.
