TURA, July 24 - The AYWO, ADE and FKJGP have demanded the sacking of the head teacher of Manda Apal primary school in East Garo Hills on the charge that she barely attends school on 20 days a year.
The primary school, which is attended by almost all children from Manda Apal village, has been suffering for the past four years due to the callous attitude of the head teacher of the school, Derino Momin, with Class IV students not yet able to write their own names!
She has falsely stated that Wednesdays have been declared holidays by the MBoSE, alleged Raksrang Sangma, secretary of FKJGP who paid a visit to the school. The head teacher has also been denying the children the free mid-day meals since 2012, he added.
The villagers had earlier made a complaint to the Education Officer on May 24 last seeking reddressal of their grievances though nothing came of it.
The NGOs have further sought an inquiry to be initiated against the School Management Committee (SMC) president for colluding with the head teacher. Further the issue of building grants for the school which was meant to provide extra classrooms also came up in the inquiry done by the NGOs.
Upon enquiry from the DI office in Williamnagar it was found that Rs 3.5 lakh had already been withdrawn from the total sanction of Rs 7 lakh. Yet the building that was built with the withdrawn amount has only four foundation posts to show.
