GUWAHATI, April 9 � The Gauhati High Court has reserved its order for tomorrow on the anticipatory bail sought by Congress legislator Dr Rumi Nath.
The Borkhola MLA moved the Court after her estranged husband Jacky Zakir was arrested for his links with Anil Chauhan, the kingpin of auto theft racket in the country and subsequently a case was also registered against her with the Dispur Police Station.
Following the arrest of Anil Chauhan, Zakir was arrested along with the Congress legislator�s personal security officer.
Meanwhile, Dr Nath, in her reply to the April 4, 2015 letter of the State Assembly Secretariat, said that it was at the request of Rita Chauhan, wife of Anil Chauhan, that she (Dr Nath) recommended to the Assembly Secretariat issuance of car passes to her (Rita Chauhan).
Principal Secretary of the State Legislative Assembly GP Das told this newspaper that Dr Nath in her reply to the Assembly Secretariat yesterday, had argued that Rita Chauhan is her personal friend by dint of the latter being a member of the Congress party.
The car passes were required to facilitate Rita Chauhan�s visit to Dr Nath�s Assembly quarter to discuss matters concerning the government�s women-related schemes. Since Rita Chauhan herself does not own any car, the car passes were issued against the cars owned by her (Rita�s) husband, said Dr Nath in her reply.
