Congress ticket for Engti: Seating Congress Member of Parliament from autonomous hill districts of Assam Birensing Engti is all set to contest the 2019 general election.

Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee publicity secretary Bidyasing Rongpi announced the party decision through a press release.

The official release has made it known that State Congress president Ripun Borah has duly endorsed the resolution of awarding party ticket to the 80-plus party leader Birensing Engti, who is also the Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee president.

The sudden and early move of the Congress party has been viewed by the BJP as lack of leadership in the district Congress.

The Congress has no choice other than pushing the grand old man for the job, this shows that they have no second line of leadership who can even apply for party ticket. This is recurrence of classic dynastic politics of Congress party, said a senior BJP leader on condition of anonymity.
