Haryana score 249 for 9 vs Assam

SILCHAR, Nov 7 - Banking on the unbeaten fighting knock of 111 runs by middle order batsman Puneet Mehta, Haryana posted 249 runs on the board at stumps on the opening day against Assam in the Col CK Nayudu Under-23 Plate-B four-day match played at the SM Dev Stadium here.

Assam skipper Wasikur Rahaman won the toss and sent Haryana to bat. The decision to filed first on a wicket which promised a result seemed absolutely perfect for the home team as the bowlers picked up five wickets with only 40 runs on the board. However, Amit Rana joined Puneet and consolidated the innings with a 90 run partnership for the 7th wicket to bail their team out of trouble. Amit scored 50 runs with ten 4s. Puneet reached his century hitting thirteen 4s and a six. Assam�s Roshan Alom was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 67 runs while Jogeswar Bhumij and Dhruvajyoti Das scalped two wickets each.
