Haribhakta Katowal remembered

BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 2 - Eminent Nepali poet Haribhakta Katowal was remembered today at Samardalani, Nagshanker in Biswanath district on the occasion of his 84th birth anniversary under the aegis of Biswanath District Nepali Sahitya Sabha in association with its Samardalani branch.

The programme commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and paying floral tributes before the portrait of the poet at Dakhin Nagshanker High School. A meeting was held on the occasion with Hema Kumar Gautam, the working president, in the chair while the proceedings were conducted by Hemanta Bhattarai. Taking part as the chief guest, eminent Nepali writer Dr Khemraj Nepal highlighted the life and works of Haribhakta Katowal.

The meeting was also attended by Madan Thapa, Ratna Basnet, Hari Upadhyaya, Joy Kumar Sutar, Dilip Gajurel and Anjan Dutta Baskota, among others. A Ghazal collection titled Rako composed by Ram Dahal was released at the meeting.

Around 30 poets recited poems while a number of prominent people in different fields of activity were felicitated.
