Hare Krishna Movement festival of lights

GUWAHATI, Oct 26 � Hare Krishna Movement, Guwahati, celebrated the festival of lights along with Govardhan Puja at Brindaban Gardens, located near Zoo tiniali traffic point.

Hundreds of devotees participated in the celebrations. A 200-kg pure vegetarian cake (Annakut) resembling Sri Govardhan Hill at Vrindaban was prepared, which was later distributed amongst the people who assembled there. The evening was marked by a rendering of Harinaam Sankirtan by Shaankh (Hare Krishna Rock Band) much to the delight of the people.

Devotees as well as general public lighted ghee lamps and offered them to Lord Damodar (little Krishna) paying their obeisance to Him in this auspicious month of Kartik.

Temple devotees performed Kirtan giving a transcendental effect to the proceedings. The event was followed by a grand Arati to the Lord and distribution of Prasadam to one and all.

The organizers on Sunday expressed their gratefulness to the people for turning up in large numbers to experience the spiritual bliss of associating with the pastimes of Lord Damodar.

The 1st BN NDRF celebrated Deepawali with poor and needy people living near to the NDRF campus in Guwahati and distributed sweets and crackers among them.
