SILCHAR, Aug 23 - The North East People�s Organisation, (NEPO) has called for an indefinite economic blockade at Jirighat in Lakhipur subdivision from Monday in protest against the uninterrupted harassment of non-Manipuris in general in the wake of demand for introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) raised by the Joint Committee on ILP.
Pradip Kumar Dey, chief convener of the NEPO said that there was no objection from the non-Manipuris to ILP and hence, what is the reason behind harassing them both mentally and physically and keeping them confined to houses during Mayang curfew.
Meanwhile, local MP Susmita Dev has expressed solidarity to the decision on economic blockade saying that she would discuss the issue with Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur.
