Hajo revenue circle areas still under floodwaters

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Aug 18 - Several places of North Kamrup are still under floodwaters, which have damaged sali paddy cultivation as also causing other losses to the people of those areas in the second wave of floods. Among those, the Hajo revenue circle area has been the worst-hit area as the floodwaters of Puthimari river has inundated a number of villages like Bhamarborigaon, Ekadi, Heerajeni, Bullut Konwarpur, Hablakha, Barni, Paniyapara, Saniyadi including several parts of north Hajo, Satdala and Barchali area and agricultural lands of the entire area. The Puthimari (Lakhaitora) had washed away the North and South Hajo connecting makeshift wood and bamboo bridge on Lakhaitora at Satdala and Barchali-Barni connecting bridge due to which the normal communication in the area has been hit. Besides this, the floodwaters have also inundated Barchali Hatkhola ME School, Panditorpam LP School, Barchali High School, Gaonburhapam LP School and some other schools of the area. On the other hand, floodwaters of Barnadi have also affected several places of North and South Lenga under North Guwahati revenue circle under Jalukbari LAC. Similarly, the floodwaters of Suklai, Motonga and Puthimari river had also affected several hectares of agricultural lands of undivided North Kamrup area including Nathpara, Harijhora, west Gurmou and north-west Rangiya.
