Hailakandi DSA win hockey tourney

HAILAKANDI, Dec 21 - Hailakandi District Sports Association (DSA) won the Mohammad Ali Memorial Shield defeating Silchar District Sports Association 3-1 in the first ever hockey tournament organised by Badarpur Press Club in Badarpur on Sunday.

In the first match, Hailakandi defeated Badarpur Press Club 4-0 while in the second match, Silchar DSA defeated Karimganj XI 4-1. Sinthoiba Singh of Hailakandi was adjudged man of the final for scoring two goals. He was awarded Late Abdur Razzak memorial trophy. Surajit Deb received the Amit Suklabaidya Memorial Trophy as man of the tournament. The runners-up team received Late Fazlur Rahman Memorial Trophy. The tournament was held at Al Islah National Academy ground in Badarpur.

The prizes were given away by Karimganj DSA president Amalesh Choudhury and general secretary Sudip Chakrabarty.
