Hagrama demands judicial probe

By Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 24 Expressing serious doubts over BPPF as a political party, Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of BTC and BPF supremo, today demanded a high-level judicial inquiry into the arrest of the general secretary of the womens wing of BPPF after she was caught red-handed with illegal arms by police yesterday.

Talking to mediapersons, Mohilary has said the arrest of Narzary has a clear indication as to whether BPPF led by Rabiram Narzary is a political party or something else. He therefore demanded a judicial inquiry. Narzary, a key leader of BPPF, was arrested with illegal arms yesterday on the way to Kokrajhar from Dimapur.

On the other hand, in an emergent meeting today, the BPPF suspended Narzary for an indefinite period from the party for being arrested on charges of carrying arms yesterday. The president of BPPF, Rabiram Narzary, today at a press meet termed the matter as really surprising and said the party will look into the matter. However, he said, BPPF is not going to take responsibility whether the act was committed knowingly or unknowingly as it is a matter of personal involvement without any link with BPPF as a party. BPPF does not in any way indulge in any anti-national activities, he maintained.

At the same time he cautioned that BPPF never support any acts of militancy or terrorism and anyone found involved would be treated under the law above party lines as BPPF has been working for peace, democracy and non-violence. He further said that there is a conspiracy to destroy the political identity of BPPF for which he has appealed to the party workers to remain cautious from victimization by conspirators.

UG Brahma, adviser, BPPF and ex-MP, has said that the members of extremist organizations are now fighting for their survival and thus they are using innocent people and leaders for their selfish gains for which he has alerted all to keep distance from of such groups.
