Hagrama asks regional parties to remain united

By CORRESPONDENT

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 22 - In a big twist, Hagrama Mohilary, former BTC chief and BPF supremo this evening called upon regional political parties to remain united to form the next government in the BTC.

He said this after the verdict of the Gauhati High Court whcih directed the CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) to conduct a floor test in order to form the next government. Mohilary appealed to UPPL, GSP and the BPF to remain united so that BJP cannot take the lead in forming the BTC government.

Talking to mediapersons this evening here at the BPF central office, he further stated that BJP as national party is not going to serve the purpose of people living in BTC area, and, it is for the regional parties to take up governance for the greater interest of people of the region.

He also pointed out that there is no need of any BPF member including himself to become the chief of BTC again. But BPF will extend support to other regional parties so that the BJP is kept out of the next BTC government.

He expressed his willingness to remain united with UPPL and GSP if necessary as a united anti-BJP force.

Regarding his security, Mohilary clarified that he has appealed to the government to withdraw his security cover in case the government is unable to provide the same kind of security status to him as it was there during his tenure as the BTC chief.
