Haflong generates awareness on cleanliness

HAFLONG, Oct 7 � Along with the rest of the State, the Dima Hasao District Congress Committee organised the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan here on Sunday in order to generate awareness on cleanliness and hygiene among the people of the district.

Executive members of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council along with the District Congress Committee president and other Congress workers took part in the cleanliness drive starting from the Rajiv Bhawan and undertaken at Jagannath Bari, Ramkrishna Seva Samiti premises, church and the banks of the Haflong Lake.

Talking to the media, the District Congress Committee (I) president of Dima Hasao, Mahendra Kemprai disclosed that they were taking part in the Chief Minister�s Clean Assam, Green Assam campaign. He said the Congress party had organised cleanliness drives on earlier occasions too and therefore appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to keep their surroundings neat and clean.

Tushar Kanti Deb, deputy chairman of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council said it was a symbolic gesture of the District Congress Committee to spread the message of cleanliness for a healthy society.
