Guwahati theatre fest third season from Nov 16

GUWAHATI, Nov 4 - The third season of the Guwahati Theatre Festival will be held at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre at Machkhowa here from November 16 to 18, a press release stated.

Like the last two seasons, this year too, the festival shall witness four globally acclaimed plays. The festival will feature Laughter Therapy on November 16, and Detective 9-2-11 on November 17. The concluding day will have two plays � Foreign Body and Stories in a Song.

Laughter Therapy features Mona Singh, known for her role as Jassi (Jasmeet Walia) in the TV serial Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Detective 9-2-11 is an exhilarating escape drama directed by Atul Kumar, which features actors like Neil Bhoopalam and Sukant Goyel.

Foreign Body, a play in English, is a solo show by Imogen Butler-Cole about hope, healing and forgiveness after sexual assault, while Stories in a Song tells stories of musical forms such as kajri, thumri, dadra, khayal, remixes and more. Directed by Sunil Shanbag, the play features actors Sukant Goel, Saurabh Nayyar and Namit Das, among others.

The third edition shall also witness theatre workshops conducted by Namit Das and Atul Kumar for school and college students, respectively. The last date for registration is November 10.

The festival is being organised by G Plus in association with Ballantines. It is being powered by The Assam Tribune and supported by Apollo Hospitals Guwahati, North East Small Finance Bank, XUV 500 from Mahindra & Mahindra, Servo from Indian Oil, and Outreach Advertising.

Round Table India, a young businessmen and professionals club with the objective of community service focusing on building infrastructure for education of underprivileged children, will promote the festival.
