Guwahati take big lead against Bongaigaon

GUWAHATI, April 26 - Guwahati is all set to retain the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy as they took a massive first innings lead of 510 runs in the final of the Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament.

On the second day of the four-day encounter at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara here today, in reply to Bongaigaon�s paltry first innings total of 108, Guwahati, resuming at 74 for one, went on punishing the opponent bowlers and amassed 618, including 120 penalty runs for slow over rate of bowling by Bongaigaon.

Romario Sharma top scored with 159 off 140 balls which was studded with 11 fours and 10 sixes. Riyan Parag (71), Rishav Das (60), Pritam Debnath (57), Tarjinder Singh (42) and Abu Nechim Ahmed (38) were the other notable contributors for Guwahati while Sunil Ranjan Gogoi was the pick of the Bongaigaon bowlers with four wickets.
