MORIGAON, Jan 4 � Title holders Guwahati stormed into the final of the 62nd edition of Senior Inter District Football Championship. In the one-sided first semifinal of the meet at Khirod Baruah Stadium here today, Guwahati trounced host Morigaon 4-1. However, it was the host team which forged ahead in the 11th minute through Tapan Moni Patar.
Stung by the reverse, fancied Guwahati boys romped into attack mode and drew parity in the 33rd minute when Manoj Ahmed found the target. After changing over, the defending champions fired three salvos with complete domination.
Sabir Ali took Guwahati ahead in the 47th minute while Suraj Gayary made it 3-1 in the 52nd minute. Amal Boro completed the drubbing for the visiting team just after one minute. In the second semifinal tomorrow, Nagaon will lock horns with Tezpur.
