Guwahati set to enter final

GUWAHATI, April 22 - With a huge 459-run first innings lead against Nagaon in the semifinal of the Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament, Guwahati are all set to enter the final.

On the second day of the three-day encounter at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara here today, resuming at the overnight total of 263 for five, Guwahati declared their first innings at 459 for eight.

The highlight of the Guwahati innings was centuries by Gokul Sharma (152 off 243 balls, 4x19, 6x1) and Tajinder Singh (118 off 155 balls, 4x12, 6x1).

Nagaon batsmen miserably failed to tackle the Guwahati bowling and surrendered meekly as they were all out for 94 in just 19.5 overs. Abhinav Choudhuri (5/25) virtually wrecked the Nagaon innings with accurate bowling.

Guwahati, instead of forcing the opponent to follow on batted again and were 139 for two after 37 overs of batting. Now Guwahati have an overall lead of 504 runs with eight second innings wickets in hand.

At Mangaldai: The second day�s play of the second semifinal between Bongaigaon and Silchar also abandoned at Mangaldai today.
