Guwahati Run and Walk on Jan 6

GUWAHATI, Jan 3 � Guwahati Run and Walk, an annual event supported by the non resident Assamese based across the globe will this year focus on SHED, an organization working for the uplift of the underprivileged, particularly the physically and mentally-challenged children. The programme is scheduled on January 6.

The Guwahati Run and Walk is organized to raise awareness about a few remarkable persons and their organizational work and supported by the NRI community of Assam, the Assam Foundation in North America (AFNA).

This event that started from last year is also supported by a few non government organizations like Rickshaw bank of CRD, Snehalaya, Parijat Academy, Atma-Nirbhar- Ek Challenge and SHED. Last time, the programme had succeeded in attracting the attention of the young generation who had come to affirm their support for peace and positive developments in the State.

This event is held on the first Sunday of the New Year to spread the message of hope, inspiration and faith.

The Guwahati Run and Walk will start at 9:30 am from the Latasil ground. Representatives of participating organizations, dignitaries and NSS volunteers will run and walk a total distance of 4 kms and it would cover the district Library, RBI, Cotton College hostel, Judges field, High Court and back to Latasil ground.

There will also be a musical touch to the event. Besides some musical group, a team of Bar Dhulia from Nalbari will be the added attraction of the event.

Ankur Bora, a AFNA member on Thursday connected with the media and other people in Guwahati through skype call from US. Bora appealed to the people of Guwahati to take part in the Run and Walk.

�We request all well wishers and friends to participate in the event along with their family as that will give us motivation to spread the messages of hope, inspiration and faith to our next generation and joining hands for a cause,� said Bora.
