Guwahati in driver�s seat

GUWAHATI, April 3 � Guwahati are in control against Nagaon in the final of the Nuruddin Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Championship (Elite Group).

On the rain delayed second day of the four-day final at the Barsapara stadium here today, Guwahati took a commendable 153-run first innings in reply to Guwahati�s first innings total of 300, Nagaon were all out for 147. In the second innings, Guwahati were 27 for the loss of one wicket when stumps were drawn.

Gokul Sharma, who was unbeaten on 109 yesterday, was out for 112. He faced 209 balls and cracked seven boundaries and a six. The Nagaon batsmen miserably failed to tackle Guwahati medium pacer Chanakya Sarma who removed six scalps giving away 37 runs. Raj Bora was the lone Nagaon batsman to put some resistance and he was the top scorer for his team with 61.
