By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, July 12 The Guwahati Heritage Drive, undertaken as part of the ongoing Metropolis I am Responsible campaign, organised under the initiative of the Kamrup Metro district administration and the District Disaster Management Authority, covers around 25 schools, besides residential complexes and other public places during the past few weeks.

According to officials involved with the initiative, the mobile exhibition inside a bus as part of the heritage drive, which showcases legendary photographs of Guwahati city during earlier times and its present transformation, has toured localities like Hengrabari, Noonmati, Sonapur, Khetri, Gorchuk, ISBT, Basistha, Rupnagar, Uzan Bazar and Maligaon, among other places.

The motive behind this campaign is to create awareness among the people, basically the youths, about the importance of Guwahatis heritage. Without being aware about the significance of our past, we cannot move towards our future and it also makes us understand and feel why we should be responsible and try to keep our city clean, better and safer, an official said.

The campaign involves a number of activities in schools and localities including workshops, awareness drives, interactive sessions, street, plays, wall art project, besides mock drills and sensitisation workshop on search and rescue, first aid and fire safety during natural and artificial calamities.

While the Metropolis I am Responsible campaign started in April this year, the Guwahati Heritage Drive is being conducted between June 11 and July 15.
