Guwahati film festival to conclude today

GUWAHATI, Dec 15 � The 5th Guwahati Film Festival organised from December 10 by the Gauhati Cine Club in association with the European Union and Film Federation Societies of India at Rabindra Bhawan would conclude on December 16.

Along with two other international films, Lolita, directed by Brajen Baruah, eminent filmmaker of Assam would be screened in the festival. The film of 120 minutes duration would be screened from 3.30 pm. It may be noted here that the entire film fest was dedicated to Brajen Baruah for his valuable contributions to the Assamese film industry.

Dr Bezbaruah, directed by Brajen Baruah was the first blockbuster movie of Assamese film industry. The organizsers had collected both the movies of the director and Lolita, released in 1972 would be screened as homage to Brajen Baruah, who has also acted in the film.

Five Star Existence of Finland directed by Sonja Linden would be screened at 11.30 am on the concluding day of the fest followed by a documentary The Green Army, Saviour of the Sylvans on the Bodo militant organisations, directed by Merajur Rahman Baruah. Innocent Voices of Mexico directed by Luis Mandeko would be the concluding film of the festival that would be screened from 5.30 pm. A valedictory function would also be held on the occasion.

Films from 20 countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Denmark, Lithuania Luxemburg, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Finland, England, South Africa, Mexico, Bangladesh etc., were screened in the festival.
