Guwahati FC outplay Hyderabad outfit

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 21 - After 1-2 defeat against Mohammedan Sporting, Kolkata at Barasat on November 14, Guwahati FC bounced back with a 3-0 victory against Fateh Hyderabad FC in their opening home match of the I-League 2nd Division.

In a one-sided encounter of the Eastern Conference at the NF Railway Stadium, Maligaon today, the home team was distinctly a better side and won the match in a convincing way.

Durga Boro took the local team ahead in the 11th minute while foreign recruit Somide Adelaja enhanced the margin in the 32nd minute.

After the break James Singh completed the rout in the 60th minute. The margin could have been much bigger had the Guwahati FC strikers not squandered some easy scoring opportunities.

The young looking Hyderabad players were good in techniques but they hardly could penetrate through the local teams defenders through out the course. Their frontliners R Manikaran, Rinreithan Shaiza and Manoj S have showed some courage and tried to break through the opponent defenders but finally failed to do any damage.

Their defence line was also not compact enough and they left enough space in between.

Studded with only one local player-Durga Boro, the host team dominated the proceeding from the word go. Lalrinfela set the ball for Durga inside the box and Durga headed home smartly (1-0).

The second goal was a classic one as Vicky Meitei ran down the right wing beating a couple of opponent defenders and sent a measured square to Somide who deflected the ball into the net (2-0).

James Singh fired the third salvo from top of the box after dribbling few yards (3-0).

In the next match Guwahati FC will play against NEROCA of Manipur at the same venue on November 28.
