Gunotsav begins at LP, ME schools

GUWAHATI, April 4 - Gunotsav, organised by the State Government to assess the quality of Lower Primary and Middle English schools, started in Kamrup Metropolitan district today along with other parts of the State.

Today, on the first day of Gunotsav, the schools undertook self-assessments. From tomorrow and till April 7, External Evaluators will evaluate the school and students.

�Gunotsav is not only for inspection of schools. It is for assessment for the quality of education and other parameters of schools and their premises. It is to create a holistic ambience in the school premises and to see the educational cycle of the schools,� Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro Dr M Angamuthu said. The Chief Minister, other ministers, MLAs and senior officials will all be External Evaluators to evaluate the students and schools.

In Kamrup (M), 708 schools covering over 70,000 students will be evaluated, for which 270 External Evaluators, 64 Liaison Officers and 708 Nodal Officers have been trained. Dr Angamuthu will himself be the External Evaluator tomorrow at Lokhara MVS, said a statement.
