DERGAON, Oct 16 - The Golaghat district-level Gumrag dance competition will be held on October 18 at the Marwary Panchayat Dharamshala here.

The competition being organised under the aegis of Golaghat District Mising Dyarab Kaubang is aimed at strengthening the culture and unity of the Mising people. Dr. Khireswar Loying, adviser of the organising committee has requested all concerned on behalf of the organising committee to extend their cooperation for the success the event.

Tulsi bheti contest: Kati Bihu will be celebrated by nature organisation, �Aashray� of Dergaon with an attractive Tulsi bheti preparation and Tulsi plantation contest on October 18 evening. The competition will be held at the residence of the participants and observers will go to the homes of the participants in the evening. Later, the shortlisted participants will have to appear at a viva before a panel of judges. After the viva, the top ten participants will be awarded at an open meeting to be held at the Dergaon Sports� Association Bhavan on October 19. In the open meeting, a lecture on �Kati Bihu and its rituals� will be held. The interested participants may contact Sanjoy Kr Hazarika, the secretary of the organising committee for further details within October 17.
