Guilty would be punished: Bora

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 18 - The State agriculture department has taken seriously the issue of unproductive rice seeds (chaffy grain) and will initiate steps for providing succour to the affected farmers once the report of the Secretary-level probe is submitted.

Stating this after visiting various places in and around Hajo such as Raja Bazaar, Adhiapara, Kalitakuchi, etc., yesterday, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora asserted that accountability would be fixed on the guilty and they would be punished.

We are taking the matter seriously and once the probe submits its findings, we will take action on the guilty, besides initiating measures for providing relief to the affected farmers, Bora said.

Recently Sahabhagi seeds were supplied by the agriculture department to farmers in various districts, which turned out to be unproductive in several districts.
