GUWAHATI, April 9 - As part of the three-phase agitation called by the All Assam University Employees Federation (AAUEF) in all universities of the State governed under the CPC, executive members of the Gauhati University Workmens Union (GUWU) today staged an hour-long sit-in demonstration in front of the Administrative Building of GU protesting the delay in implementation of the 7th Pay CPC recommendation by the State government for all the non-teaching employees serving under GU even after two years of its initial announcement.

Union president Pradip Rajbonshi and secretary Naba Kalita urged the GU authority to look into the matter and impress upon the State government for an early solution. CPC Member Secretary and GU Registrar Dr SK Nath told the demonstrators that the CPC report had already been submitted before the appropriate authority and the issue should be settled within the month.
