GUWAHATI, March 14 - The Gauhati University Inter College Volleyball Championship got underway at the Md Tayabullah Hockey Stadium Complex in Keraikuchi here today.
The championship has been organised by the Abhiruchi Institute of Physical Education (AIPE) under the aegis of the Gauhati University Sports Board.
In the boys category, 10 colleges � Abhayapuri College, Bimala Prasad Chaliha College, AIPE, Bhabanipur Anchalik College, Guwahati College (all Group A); Manikpur Anchalik College, Indira Gandhi College, B Borooah College, GU PG Classes, Nalbari Collage (all Group B) are taking part while in the girls section five colleges are in fray for the title. The girls� matches will start tomorrow.
Earlier, in the morning a brief function was held where Director, Students� Welfare of GU Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati; Director, College Development Council Dr Biswajit Sarma were present as guests along with organising adviser Balendra Mohan Chakravarty.
