NALBARI, Oct 19 - Gauhati Town Club clinched the champions� title in the Nalbari Sports Association (NSA) Trophy Football Tournament.
In the final played at the Gurdon Field here yesterday The GTC team outshot Nalbari Police 2-0 in penalty shoot-out after a goal less draw in the regulation time.
Bishal Sonar of the winning team was picked for the best player of the final award. State Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman was the chief guest on the occasion. Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta, Nalbari SP Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa were also present in the final along with a host of sportspersons and organisers.
The champion team became richer by Rs 20,000 while the runners-up team received a purse of Rs 15,000. The championship was organised by the NSA.
