GUWAHATI, Dec 18 � Gauhati Town Club routed Ankurjyoti Club by 190 runs in the opening match of Ramesh Baruah Trophy Invitation Cricket Tournament at Judges� Field here today.
Riding on two swashbuckling knocks by Nitin Das (178 off 125 balls) and Nayanjyoti Deka (81 off 53 balls) the host team amassed 331 for five in the allotted 40 overs and in reply, Ankurjyoti managed to score only 141 losing all the wickets in 30.2 overs. Deep Bora wrecked the Ankurjyoti innings with a five-wicket haul. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by former State Ranji players Badal Thakur. Other Ranji players like Pradip Phukan, Sankar Dutta Lahkar, Joydip Baruah were present on the occasion along with host of cricketers.
