GUWAHATI, June 25 � The Rajat Chandra Sarma and Kamini Priya Devi Memorial Guwahati Chess Championship 2014, Open got underway here at the Gauhati Town Club today.
Altogether 41 players, including 21 international rated players are taking part in this seven-round Swiss League championship. The Guwahati team will be selected for the forthcoming All Assam Chess Championship from this meet.
The event carries a prize fund for the top five players along with a running trophy for the champion. After the first two rounds played today, a group of 11 players are leading with 2 points each.

The event is being conducted by Salina Masum as the chief arbiter.
