Gtc chess coaching camp ends

GUWAHATI, May 6 � The advanced level IM chess coaching camp, organised by Gauhati Town Club Chess Foundation for its students from May 2nd came to an end today. International master and former Commonwealth Champion Atanu Lahiri of West Bengal imparted training to the students during the camp. He was assisted by Biswajit Bharadwaj and Nandan Buragohain.

The camp was organized as an initiative to provide advance training to the students who are undergoing regular training at the foundation and thus enhance their performance in the upcoming Nationals. The top five prize winners of the 1st GTC School Chess Championship 2011 were also provided free coaching during the camp.

A rapid chess championship among the students of the foundation was also organized on the eve of the camp long with a round robin rapid chess tournament.

The closing ceremony was presided over by GTC working president Jaideep Barua. GTC officials Amarendra Nath, Bulbul Choudhury were also present on the occasion.

All the participants in the camp were awarded certificate.

Results of round robin tournament: Champion: Rituraj Borgohain of Duliajan. Runners up: Dipu Pradhan of Sivsagar.

Inter Gtc Rapid Chess Tournament: 1st � Nitish Das, 2nd � Mohit Jain, 3rd � Bibaswan Debamishra, 4th � Trinabh Chokhani, 5th � Bidisha Sarma.
