TURA, Oct 16 - Garo Students� Union (GSU), Williamnagar unit today condemned the death of 16 year-old Sengat Sangma after allegedly being beaten up in a fight with some people from Rishipara locality here. The NGO further demanded an inquiry into the matter.
�We seek a speedy inquiry into the matter and action against the culprits according to the law,� said Rockyfillier M Sangma, general secretary of GSU, Williamnagar.
The NGO questioned the police who kept the youths in the police station after their rescue instead of handing them over to their families. �Inspite of severe injuries, why was Sengat put in lock up for the whole night instead of immediately providing medical attention,� asked Sangma.
�It is clear that the death was caused due to gross negligence of the police. We demand departmental action against those officials for negligence of duty�, he added.
