GSA to host inter coaching centre football

GUWAHATI, Nov 26 - In a bid to develop the game of football in the city, the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) is planning to organise an inter coaching centre football competition. The competition will be held in U-13 and U-16 categories respectively.

The decision was taken in a meeting organised last evening by the GSA in association with Football Coaching Centre of Greater Guwahati where the representatives of 16 football coaching centres took part.

Addressing the gathering, GSA secretary Dhruba Jyoti Kalita said that GSA has planned to promote soccer in grassroots level and as a part of this initiative the inter coaching centre football competition will be organised very soon on home and away basis. Later players would be selected from this competition and GSA will arrange training for them and will also select its U-13 and U-16 inter district teams based on the performances of these players.

Several other key issues including grassroots football were discussed in the meeting. The GSA also received several new proposals from the participants which included promotion of women soccer, facility to practice throughout the season, proper training of soccer coaches, among others.

Also present on the occasion were GSA vice president Manjit Bhagawati, Assam Football Association treasurer Hiren Gogoi and football coach Kamalakanta Singh, stated a press release.
