Green Valley trounce FCI

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, July 7 In a well contested encounter of the Primier Agro Bio-Tech NN Bhatta Football Tournament here at Nehru Stadium today, Green Valley Sports Club handed a 2-0 drubbing to Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club.

Controlling the situation from the word go, Green Valley scored through Chayaram Basumatary (20th minute) and Luucky Kelechukwn (46th minute).

Green Valley players were seen in nice form and played a well combined game. Their mid-fielders Shabir Ali, Gaiham Rongmei and Bijoy Borgohain dominated the middle third of the pitch and fed their frontliners quite frequently using both the flanks. Green Valley attackers Luucky, Chayaram and George Prince left a tough tie for the FCI defenders throughout the course but could not increase the margin due to lack of accuracy in the final touches. For FCIs Biswamitra Basumatary and Lalnunsanga tried to cruise through to the opponent box using their speed. However, they hardly got the required support from their teammates to hit the target. Chayaram drew first blood off a header anticipating a floater sent by Shabir Ali. Luckys goal was an eye-catching one as on receiving a pass from Chayaram he drove home with a fast timer.

Todays match: Dynamo vs City Police.
