GUWAHATI, Sept 1 NF Railway Sports Club rallied to hold Green Valley Sports Club 2-2 and ASEB SC handed a 3-1 drubbing to Sunrise AC in two matches of the RG Baruah Super Division Football League today here at the Nehru Stadium.

On the first ground, both Green Valley and NF Railway played a spirited game with some quality tactical moves.

Gaiham Rongmei drew the first blood in the 44th minute which took Green Valley ahead. Gaiham beat the NF Railway goalkeeper K Bijen Singh with a 30-yard swerving drive. In the added time of the first session Apurba Phukan enhanced the margin with a full-blooded grounder off a move initiated by Lucky Imran, George Prince and Micheal Lucky.

But the NF Railway boys were never ready to give up without fight and put up a spirited show after the break. Their hard work paid dividend in the 68th minute when defender Bijoy Das reduced the margin with a powerful drive off a goal mouth melee.

They fired the equaliser in the 72nd minute through a spot kick. Referee Ripu Nath Gogoi awarded a penalty to NF Railway when the ball was handled by Green Valley defender Fayajuddin Shah. Sibra Narzary firmly drove home.

The first session of the match was completely under Green Valleys control as Micheal, George and Apurba look quite dangerous for the Railway defenders.

But in the second half, the Railway team showed their class with some spectacular individual and team works.

Sunrise drubbed: Sunrise Athletic Club could not maintain the previous form and were humiliated 1-3 by ASEB SC.

ASEB opened the account in the eighth minute through Sanatumba Sarma. They continued their domination and went 2-0 ahead in the 26th minute. Karma Narzary beat the opponent goalkeeper from inside the box with a grounder.

Finally it was William Gangte who made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute. Sunrise, however, got their consolation goal in the 76th minute when Festus O Johnavah managed to shoot home.

Todays matches: Navajyoti vs Dynamo; Ganga vs FCI.
