Green award for city school

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - Miles Bronson Residential School, Borjhar here, a co-ed boarding school, recently received the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Silver Award at the 13th Indian Green Building Congress 2015 organised by the collaboration of Confederation of Indian Industry and the Govt of Gujarat at the Mahatma Mandir Auditorium in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

MBRS has been credited to be the first and the only certified green school awardee in entire north-eastern and eastern India, a press release said.

�Achieving a silver rating from IGBC reflects the school�s commitment in building a healthier campus for its children and offering them an environment-friendly living experience. To achieve the silver rating, the school needs to score 60 to 69 points, and Miles Bronson Residential School, Guwahati, scored 63 points for the same,� it said.

Some of the highlights of the school�s green initiatives that met the IGBC standards include waste segregation, water harvesting, eco-friendly commuting practices, greener campus, water-efficient landscaping, energy-efficient lighting fixtures, organic waste management, fresh air ventilation, etc.
