GUWAHATI, July 8 - BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli today dismissed notions about a grand alliance of Opposition parties and said the NDA regime has brought all round development in India while taking on board all sections of the society.
Addressing the media here today, Kohli said the concept of a mahagathbandhan or grand alliance of Opposition parties for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls is notional.
The NDA is real. The mahagathbandhan is illusory. Let it be formed who will be its leader. There are three different formulae of the mahagathbandhan - Congress leading the mahagathbandhan, Congress inside the mahagathbandhan but not leading it, and Congress outside the mahagathbandhan. So, there is no mahagathbandhan, he said.
Opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot be an agenda for an alternative or the agenda for governance. If they (Congress) want to compete, let them compete on the politics of performance, the politics of vikas and the politics of seva, Kohli added.
He said the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) partners are already in power in seven out of the eight North- eastern States and exuded confidence that voters in Mizoram, which is the only Congress-ruled State in the region and where Assembly polls are scheduled for later this year, will also opt for an alternative in the coming elections.
The BJP leader accused the Congress of trying to create an imaginary politics of hatred in the country.
The country is clearly seeing two fronts in terms of what the agenda for Indias future in terms of thinking, in terms of ideology and in terms of governance. On the one side, it is the ideology of performance and on the other, it is the ideology of power for the sake of power, Kohli said.
He further added, I have noted the comments of Rahul Gandhi in the media. He is speaking about an imaginary and self-created politics of hatred. From day one of the Narendra Modi-led government, the Prime Minister personally said the only book he believes is in the Constitution of India. The Constitution of India means all Indians are equal before the law and the government serves all Indians.
He said various social welfare schemes launched by the Modi government have benefited crores of Indians and beneficiaries have been chosen irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
There is no discrimination against any Indian. This is the politics of development and the politics of performance. The Congress party and its leaders are indulging in the politics of running down and criticising even development. It seems Rahul Gandhis tweets celebrate negative news. Today, they (Congress) are trying to create an imaginary politics of hatred in India. But the country cant be fooled, said the BJP spokesperson.
He also lambasted Rahul Gandhis performance as a Lok Sabha MP.
