Gramya Vigyan Mela at Dhakuakhana on August 25, 26

DHEMAJI, Aug 21 - A rural science fair, Gramya Vigyan Mela, will be held at Dhakuakhana Girls� High School premises on August 25 and 26 next under the aegies of the Science and Technology department of government of Assam and in cooperation with the Dhakuakhana unit of Assam Science Society and several other NGOs here.

The programme will begin on Aug 25 at 8:30 am with tree plantation. It will be followed by a workshop on science application where a discourse on superstition, prejudice, plastic pollution and influence of rumour etc., will be held. The discourse will be attended by professor Sewak Chandra Chutia, Dr Narendra Nath Dutta and noted naturalist Debajit Phukan.

The science exhibition to be arranged on the occasion will be inaugurated by Arindam Boruah, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO, Civil) at 10:30 am. A science-based extempore speech will be organised at 1 pm.

The second day�s programme will be started with yoga practice which will be followed by some magic of chemistry. Then a science-related interaction will be held which will be participated by Dr Hiranya Chutia, agriculture officer Bhabajit Doley and professor Dr Satyaranjan Neog.

The open session to be started at 1 pm will be inaugurated by Dimbeswar Gogoi, writer and retired vice-principal of Dhakuakhana College. Dr Jogananda Sut, principal of Dhakuakhana College will attend the open meeting as the chief guest while it will be shared by professor Dr Amal Chandra Dutta and Juktiratna Saikia as appointed speakers. The organisers have solicited the presence and cooperation of the local people to make the programme a grand success.
