Gramin Vikash Bank to start ATM service soon

HAILAKANDI, May 10 � The Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB) will start ATM services from September next throughout the State. This will start in collaboration with the United Bank of India (UBI).

The chairman of AGVB, SN Sahoo told mediapersons here that all the process under Core Banking System (CBS) has already been completed in all the branches of the bank throughout the State. Initially 100 ATM counters will be opened in the State and of them, 20 would be opened in Barak Valley districts.

Sahoo informed that the ATM counters of AGVB will be opened in the rural areas and the customers of both UBI and AGVB will be able to withdraw money from the same counters.

Sahoo also informed that the Government of Assam has identified 2322 villages, particularly backward in the banking sector of the state having 2000 population and of them; the AGVB has been assigned to develop the economic activities through banking process in the 816 villages. The bank has already implemented smart card related banking in the 744 villages.

Regarding the expansion of the bank services, Sahoo informed that the bank has already opened 8 new branches in 2011-12 and the process is on to open10 more branches in the different parts of the State. He said that the business of the bank has also been increased remarkably during the recent years.
