By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 31 - Calling upon the Grade IV employees of the State government working at Janata Bhawan to present the best example of work culture and dedication towards duty, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today urged them to perform their duties with honesty and sincerity by helping the people who come from all corners of the State for various works to Janata Bhawan.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the 4th biennial general meeting and open session of the Assam Secretariat Grade IV Govt Employees Association today at the conference hall at the CM Block, Janata Bhawan.

You are fortunate that you have the opportunity to serve the public through a government job, where many others have not got such an opportunity, and you must perform your duties with honesty and dedication to win people's trust in the government system. The Grade IV employees are the first point of interaction with the public in an office, and therefore, it is your responsibility to present a good image of the government at the grassroots, the Chief Minister opined.

Highlighting his commitment to the State government employees, Sonowal said that he signed the Dearness Allowance file of the employees enhancing the existing DA/DR by 6 per cent on his very first day in office. Assuring the employees to look into their basic demands and finding solutions to their problems, Sonowal urged them to help the government in its fight against corruption. Through hard work and dedicated public service, the reputation and image of Janata Bhawan can be redeemed in the public eye for regaining its lost glory, he said.

Saying that unless and until the high-ranked officials from the level of Chief Secretary and DGP do not interact with the frontline employees at the grassroots, transformation cannot be achieved in governance, the Chief Minister stated that all the employees of the government must work as a team to achieve the desired goals of making Assam a prosperous state.

Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta, Media Adviser to the Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami, general secretary of the Assam Secretariat Employees Association Partha Hazarika also spoke at the meeting, which also attended by Legal Adviser to the Chief Minister Shantanu Bharali, president of the Assam Secretariat Grade IV Govt Employees Association Roshan Ali and others.
