Govt yet to name successor to Sanjay Krishna

GUWAHATI, Oct 28 - With the tenure of Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna ending on October 31, the Assam government is yet to announce who will take over the post. There was some discussion in the government circles that Sanjay Krishna might be given an extension but the government is yet to make any formal announcement. Sanjay Krishna is a 1985 batch IAS officer.

There are three officers of Assam-Meghalaya cadre of the 1986 batch and all of them are on Central deputation. The senior most among them is Ravi Capoor, who is now Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles. But he is due to retire on December 31 this year. The other two officers of the 1986 batch are Atul Chaturvedi and Sanjeeva Kumar.

On the other hand, of the three Assam-Meghalaya cadre officers of the 1987 batch, one is on Central deputation and two are posted in Meghalaya, while of the two officers of the 1988 batch, one is on Central deputation and the other is presently the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home and Political Department of the State government.
