Govt working hard to bring progress: CM

By Correspondent

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 1 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal addressed two election rallies in Biswanath district today.

Addressing the rallies at Kamalakanta Natya Samaj, Biswanath Chariali and Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex, Ghahigaon, Gohpur, Sonowal observed that his government had been working hard for the development of the villages in the State during his last two-and-a-half year tenure and managed to accomplished the job of completing a good number of works which had remained incomplete during the past Congress governments. His government has always been trying to give a corruption-free and transparent governance to the people of Assam. Huge corruption at every level had led development to a standstill during the Congress rule, he said. His government has been able to establish peace and harmony among the people of the Brahmaputra and the Barak valleys and only peace can bring progress to the State.

He lamented however that a section of intellectuals has encouraged anti-social activities like terrorism in the State. Sonowal called upon the voters to cast their vote in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party if they want development in the real sense through Panchayati Raj. Criticising the poll alliance of the Asom Gana Parishad with the Congress, he said that this unholy alliance would never bring development to the villages.

The meetings were also attended by MP Ram Prasad Sharma, MLAs Padma Hazarika, Utpal Borah, Pramod Borthakur, Biswanath district BJP chief Paresh Barkakati and others.
