Govt will make accounts of funds public: CM

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 22 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that the State Government would make public the accounts of the funds sanctioned and released to the State by the Central Government under the Congress-led United Peoples Alliance (UPA) rule, said an official press release here.

He also denied the charge levelled against the State Government by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the State Government has not been submitting the utilisation certificates to the present Central Government that has led to non-release of funds from the Centre. He argued that the fact that the Central Government is releasing funds to the State is a proof that the State is submitting utilisation certificates of the Central funds.

The State Government has submitted to the DoNER Ministry utilisation certificates of Rs 2195.01 crore against the amounts of Rs 2643.81 crore released by this Union Ministry between 1998-99 and 2015-16 fiscals. But the State BJP leaders have not bothered to collect the right information on these utilisation certificates. They are trying to mislead the people on the issue, claimed the Chief Minister.
