MUSHALPUR, Sept 28 - Immediately after coming to power, the BJP-led State Government announced free admission to the students in HS and TDC first year on production of income certificates from offices concerned showing the annual income of their guardians as below one lakh rupees. Junior and degree colleges as well as higher secondary schools under the State Government were directed by the Government to act accordingly.

It was announced that the Government would refund the admission fees to the institutions after a procedure of verification. Though three months have passed since the admissions, the Government has not refunded the money to these institutions yet. Some of the principals of colleges and higher secondary schools in Baksa said that they have been facing financial crunch for day-to-day functioning of the institutions as well as for conducting unit tests. They have been compelled to either postpone or scrap various activities of the institutions due to the fund crunch. The heads of these institutions have urged the Government to release money at the earliest for the smooth running of the institutions.

Durga Puja preparations: With the formation of puja committees and setting up of puja committee offices, hectic preparations for the ensuing Durga Puja have started in Mushalpur areas.

Preparations for the 61st Mushalpur Durga Puja celebration, 37th Chaulkara-Nikashi Anchalik Durga Puja, Baganpara and Doomuni Anchalik Durga Puja, the century-old Durga Puja at Natun and Puran Sripur Devalaya as well as Kujideur Devalaya have already started.

Preparations have also started for Navaratri and Durga Puja celebration at the mythological avian shrine of Maina Pokhari-Bhuichampa Devi near Bhutankhuti.

At the same time, preparations are in full swing for Bathou Puja celebration at Barbari and Baganpara. It is noteworthy that there is no custom of installation of idols of Durga Devi and animal sacrifice at the shrine of Mainapokhari-Bhuinchampa Devi. Durga Puja is celebrated in an austere form of Rudri and Chandi Paath from Navaratri onwards here.
