Govt to release enhanced DA for employees

GUWAHATI, May 29 � The State Government today assured the Sadau Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) steering committee members release of additional seven percent DA to the its employees with effect from January 2012.

SAKP general secretary Nagen Das told this newspaper that the arrear against this additional DA for the period between January and May this year would be released by the next month, while, the regular effect to this enhanced DA payment will be given from the same month.

The State Government employees are now getting 58 percent DA, this enhancement will raise it to 65 percent.

The above announcement was made by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a meeting with the SAKP steering committee members here this evening.

In the same meeting, the Chief Minister assured steps to enhance the medical allowance of the Government employees from the existing Rs 350 per head per month in accordance with the medical allowance provided by the neighbouring states to their employees with effect from April 2012.

The Chief Minister told the SAKP leaders that the issue of arrear payment against the revised pay scales of the employees would be solved later. He also told the SAKP that the number of earned leave of the school teachers of the state would be enhanced in accordance with the number of earned leaves granted to the teachers of the Navodaya Vidyalayas and central schools.

Gogoi also agreed to provide a special allowance to the headmasters of the ME, MV and Madrassa schools. Besides, he complied with the SAKP plea to provide economic relief to the family members of those government employees who died on harness in liu of the compassionate appointment which they were not provided with.
