Govt serious about revival of Cachar Paper Mill

By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, April 3 - At a time when the Centre has released three months pending salary of the employees of Cachar Paper Mill, State BJP spokesperson Rajdeep Roy said the Government is committed to revive the solitary industry of Barak Valley.

The Government is making serious efforts to revive the Cachar Paper Mill and the process is reaching its final stage, Roy told reporters here on Sunday. Interestingly, the BJP spokesperson claimed that the Centres move to privatise the mill is appropriate considering the circumstances and the Government is looking into the pros and cons of the issue.

On the other hand, Uday Shankar Goswami, Cachar district BJP president said that the district BJP had pursued the matter with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and both have responded positively towards the need for reviving the mill. The former Congress Government was responsible for the mills downfall. It was during the Congress regime that funds meant for the mill were misappropriated and in many cases siphoned off, Goswami alleged.

Meanwhile, Kaushik Rai, former president of Cachar district BJP informed that the remaining dues of the employees would be cleared soon, for which the party would again pursue the Government.
